La capilla Mexican Restaurant

I was craving Mexican food the other day and we wanted to go to Acapulco...one of the Mexican Chain restaurants and whose food I love. But I wanted to try something new so we went to this place called La Cappilla located at 4997 La Palma Ave, La Palma, CA 90623 .
We ordered Cheese quesadilla, Enchilada with Tamitillo sauce (I forgot the actual name) and Chicken with Ranchero sauce. The portions are huge. The Quesadilla might have easilly has a pound of cheese.
I should give a special mention to thier Salsa. The salsa is one of the best salsa's I have tasted around Mexican restuarant's in Orange County/ LA County
Menu:
Good collection of items. Has something for everyone
Taste:
Taste is nothing special. I usually love enchilada with green sauce but their Tomatillo sauce was nothing special. I couldn't even taste it, cause it was sooooooo mild and it was topped with cheese
Price:
I won't say price is cheap. But the portions are pretty good for the price and you and easily share

While you can take home most of your dishes, cause if you are not sharing, its difficult to finish them unless you are very hungry, don't forget to ask them for some salsa to go. As I already mentions thier salsa was great.

Ambala Cash and Carry

This is one of those Indian grocery stores on Pioneer Blvd in Artesia, CA. Its looked at 18411 Pioneer Blvd, Artesia, CA,  . This is not a restaurant but I have some words to say about this store so I am writing about it here.
This used to be my second favourite Indian grocery store after Pioneer Cash and Carry located at  18601 Pioneer Blvd, Artesia, CA .
But I am so dissapointed in this store now that most probably I am not going there again. Recently Amabala store was closed almost for 2 weeks for upgrading they said. But only difference I found after 2 weeks is that the store looks exactly as crowded as it used to look before but the prices have gone up. And what upset me so much was, I went there specifically to by CERELAC a brand of baby cereal from Nestle which used to be available in India. I like this one because it has lot of flavors in it than the bland cereal you get in the regular grocery stores in the US.
Anyway, the cerelac in this Ambala store had an expiry date of Feb 2010 and now it is April 2011. I went to the counter and explained the situation to one of the clerks and I said "it is a baby product and if anything happens to those little babies its not good. Please take it off the shelves". He just laughed as a matter of fact, as if he already knew about it and he is not going to do anything about it
So, I don't think I am going there every again

Tantalizing Thai

My husband looooooooves Thai food and I am always on the look out for good Thai restuarants. This particular restuarant located at 11401 Carson St # A,Lakewood, CA 90715-2546  is on the opposite side of the Long Beach Towne Center Mall.
Yesterday while coming back from the mall I asked my husband if he wanted to try this Thai restuarant and he was ready. So we went there.

  • Menu:
Is kind of small. I have seen larger collection of items at other Thai Restaurants
  • Price:
A bit high. We ordered the Lamb Masaman. It was $17.00. We felt it was expensive for one lamb chop in peanut and cocnut gravy. It was good but a bit too rich. We ordered it spicy but it came out with some chilly flakes as garnish. It was tasty but sweet. Oversal expensive
We also ordered Thai fried rice which was $9.00. The quantity was small as compared to other Thai restaurants. Again a bit sweet
  • Ambience
It was good but the service was slow

Huff's hut, Long Beach

We have been to this stand alone diner twice for breakfast and I can tell you I have never tasted better Bejgian waffles anywhere else. This place called Huff's is on the corner of Wardlow and Norwalk Blvd in Long Beach, specifeically at 8105 E Wardlow Rd, Long Beach, CA 90808. Don't confuse this with hof's hut. Thats a different diner
We discovered this place because there is a dance school called Kick it up in this shopping area where my 3 yr old daughter goes for ballet classes. So one weekend after her class we went to this place for breakfast and it was filled with old-timer and every body looked as if they come there every weekend. And the food was amazing. I had Belgain waffles and my husband had omelet with chilli which was equally tasty.

I definitely recommend you go there. 5 STARS

George's Greek Cafe, Lakewood

My husband loves middle eastern food and he is always seraching for good middle eastern restaurants. So yesterday we went to George's Greek cafe in Lakewood, located at 5252 Faculty Avenue,Lakewood, CA 90712.
This is on the North side of the lakewood mall. There are quite a number of restaurants close to this place.
We ordered the sampler for the appetizer and my favourite was the calamari and phillo dough stuffed with three cheeses.  And our waitress said that the cafe was famous for its lamb chops and I LOVE lamb chops so we ordered 6 piece and shared. They were tender and pretty tasty too. But I ended up not being able to eat it that my nose was so stuffy that I could hardly close my mouth to chew.
But the items are a bit pricey. None-the-less I recommend you try it atleast once and decide for yourself if it is worth that price to go back again. But looks like people love this place. Cause it was almost full by 12 in the afternoon on a Tuesday.
